Who We Are


Nearly 30 years ago, Rainbow Shave Ice was a beloved name throughout the East Bay—especially at the iconic Hayward Zucchini Festival. It was lovingly run by Sharon and Jim Turner, along with their daughter, Lisa.

Now in 2025, as Lisa’s grand daughter Ryla prepares to celebrate her 3rd birthday with a festive luau, her son Ryan had an idea: dust off the old shave ice machines and bring back a taste of the past for their Ohana to enjoy.

And just like that, Ryla’s Ohana Shave Ice was born. 🤙🏽

We’re proud to carry on the tradition- serving up authentic Hawaiian-style shave ice to help you cool off and enjoy a sweet treat in the heat. And even sweeter: proceeds from every shave ice goes directly into a college fund for Her Grandchildren.
